Lot 12~June Happenings

Berkeley Springs Farmers Market…the area’s best Market!

We’ve definitely been experiencing warmer summer-like weather these past few weeks, our gardens and our souls are feeling gratified. The Berkeley Springs Farmers Market has been bustling and the transition from mostly plants to fresh produce is happening! Mock’s Greenhouses are already harvesting their hydroponic tomatoes, lettuces and cucumbers, Glascock’s Produce is harvesting their gorgeous strawberries and many others are displaying a nice assortment of greens, kale and spinach among other delicious spring/summer crops. There are still plenty of herbs, hanging baskets, vegetable and bedding plants, so it’s not too late for those! Organic milk in returnable glass jars? Organic, free range eggs? Yep, the market has that! Support a local farm…it helps keep our community sustainable!

Chef Damian continues to provide an unsurpassed Market Lunch! This week’s selections included: Tarragon Chicken Salad on Ciabatta, House Smoked Pork BBQ, Italian Sausage Sandwich smothered in slow cooked onions, Smoked Baby Back Pork Ribs, White Bean Hummus & Veggies,Smoked Chicken Wraps & Kind Veggie Wraps, Cous Cous Salad, Potato/Fennel Salad, Creamy Cucumber Soup…among other choices! Each week’s menu changes slightly, Strawberry Lemonade and Honey Passionfruit Iced Tea quinch the thirst on these hot Sunday afternoons…go sit by the springs and soak your toes in our healing waters!

Save the Date…Saturday, June 6th!
“Hey Girlfriend” Weekend Wine Tasting!
Maya Fredo (“the Crystal Chick”) will also be displaying her beautiful jewelry and crystals, wire wrapping while you sip wine!

“Hey Girlfriend” Weekend is the first weekend in June in Berkeley Springs and we’re having a Saturday Afternoon Wine Tasting on June 6th! Wines will be girl-centric, meaning that either the owner or the winemaker or both is female. We welcome men and women to the tasting of course! Price is $18 per person and includes four wines along with hors d’oeuvre, tasting begins at noon and concludes at 2pm. As a special “Girlfriend” highlight, local artist Maya Fredo (aka the Crystal Chick) will be here as well displaying and creating her one-of-a-kind beautiful crystal artwork/jewelry during the tasting so you can browse, buy or have her create a special wire-wrapped crystal while you relax and sip incredible wine! Call ahead please, space is limited!
We know most Dad’s like steak. And they especially like it when someone else cooks it for them on their special day. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 14th! Don’t forget Dad! You could also stop in at the Berkeley Springs Farmers Market and pick up lunch…grilled sausage sandwich, pork bbq, smoked baby back ribs! For an extra special gift…stop in to the Heath Studio/Gallery and choose a whimsical painting of Jonathan Heath’s! Business hours are Saturday & Sunday from 11-5 each week!
We love when fresh, local produce begins to arrive at our door! And there really is nothing like a still-warm-from-the garden strawberry (except maybe the still-warm tomato). The herb gardens are lush, gardens are planted and we look forward to all that Summer brings to Berkeley Springs.

Once again, we are a proud sponsor of the Summer Concerts in the Park, FREE concerts every Saturday beginning in July, 5:30-7pm downtown all Summer long.

Our Summer Dinner Menu will be arriving later this month, as will our Summer Dessert Menu. We’ll be updating our website with current menus as soon as it happens so check our Menu Page often!! Again, we’ll be updating regularly on our FaceBook page! As always, reservations are suggested. 304.258.6264

Lot 12~April Happenings

Wild Ramps, Wild Morel Mushrooms, a New Spring Dinner Menu AND the Berkeley Springs Farmers Market!!

Spring is arriving a little more each day…it’s like a collective sigh of relief! April is an exciting month as wild foraging sweeps across the region. Wild ramps are first to arrive and we are already creating delicacies. The anticipation builds with the ever-illusive wild morel mushroom. Warm days, cool nights and April showers bring the mushrooms out…some say you can hear them “pop” through the loamy soil. The Berkeley Springs Farmers Market is a great place to “forage” for your own spring harbingers if you don’t have the time, patience or secret location to source lunch. Beginning April 19th, Lot 12 returns to the market this year, serving local lunch and barbeque! Our spring dinner menu will begin later this month as the weather warms and the growing season ensues.

Wild Ramps…you’ve all heard the stories we’re sure. And yes, eaten in their raw state, they can be quite pungent. A wild onion/garlic that grows along the Appalachian mountains for a very brief few weeks in the springtime. Sauteed, grilled, or braised, cooking mellows the pungency like any onion, however, the pleasant “garlicky” flavor is unmatched by any other familial relative. A few applications you’ll find on our menu include: Wild Ramp & Yukon Gold Potato Soup, Ramp Hush Puppies, Grilled Ramps served alongside Grilled NY Strip topped with Ramp Butter to name a few. A true indicator of Spring and a delicacy that locals have utilized for over a century.
Wild Morel Mushrooms.. ….these are certainly the most highly sought after foraged item that we know of. Families have harbored their secret site for decades, or longer. Any local morel “hunter” will tell you the tricks to locating them, whether that be in an abandoned orchard, near downed oak or ash trees, alongside “mayapples”… the lists go on. We can’t confirm the location but we can certainly confirm their deliciousness. And their very brief season. We expect to begin serving them any day. Check our FaceBook page for updates! Fried morels served on Toasted Ciabatta with a Ramp Aioli is an absolute perfect way to experience these amazing ingredients. We also enjoy serving them sauteed with Brandy, Cream, Fresh Herbs and atop grilled county bread.
Lot 12 is very excited to announce that beginning on Sunday, April 19th, we return to the Berkeley Springs Farmers Market! We’ll be serving lunch from 10am-2pm each Sunday, downtown on Fairfax Street! Many of you may be familiar with our previous four year stint at the market, and you can expect a similar experience. Smoked Pork Barbeque, Ramp Chicken Salad, a variety of Soups, Vegetarian Lunch items…all available to take to-go style for park picnics, hikes or your own front porch. We’re excited to be welcomed back to the areas best and most diverse farmers market! Again, we’ll be updating regularly on our FaceBook page! Need a large quantity for a family lunch or picnic…call ahead for pricing and availability! 304.258.6264
Our New Spring Dinner Menu will be arriving later this month, our menu is seasonal and therefore dependent on the weather! As the days get warmer and mother nature wakes, our menu can begin to transform from rich, hearty stews to lively vinaigrettes and fresh spring greens. Feel free to check our website for menu updates and as always…FaceBook!
